The Breakers<\/p><\/div>\n

I’ve been to Newport Rhode Island several times and no visit is complete without stopping by the Newport Mansions. Before the Hamptons, there was of course Newport. \u00a0It used to be the summer playground of america’s social and financial elite. \u00a0 Most of the mansions now belong to the Preservation Society of Newport County \u00a0but they are open to the public. \u00a0The most popular one may be The Breakers which was owned by the Vanderbilts. The other popular ones worth seeing are the Elms, \u00a0Rosecliff , and the Marble House. These mansions were a backdrop for sports and parties of the rich and famous back in the days and it’s nice to have a glimpse of what their homes looked like. \u00a0This visit was more of like a stop over so we didn’t really get a chance to see all the mansions. \u00a0We only had time to see at least two. We took a stroll along the Cliff Walk which is this narrow pathway along the shoreline that gives you access to some of the houses. \u00a0We spent most of our time at The Breakers. Like the other mansions, it’s free to roam around the grounds but there’s a fee to go inside the house. \u00a0I have explored the mansions more meticulously in the past and the inside is really worth seeing but this time, because of limited time, we were happy to simply enjoy the outside and admire the view of the ocean. \u00a0It was beautiful and I’m sure I’ll be back again another time.<\/p>\n

It was a short visit to Newport but still a memorable one. \u00a0We had lunch at Flo’s Clam Shack and stopped at Easton’s Beach to take a few snapshots. \u00a0We didn’t get to go to the Bannister’s Wharf which is one of my favorite places in Newport. \u00a0If you go you should stop by this harbor town and enjoy their shops and restaurants by the water. The place gives you that Newport feel so go on foot and explore it. \u00a0Have coffee or ice cream whichever you prefer by the dock and watch the sunset or better yet, have a nice meal in one of its restaurants by the water.<\/p>\n
